The Bihar School Examination Board's (BSEB) matriculation examination results for 2025 revealed a notable trend: girls outperformed boys. This mirrors a similar pattern observed in the intermediate results. Two girls, Sakshi Kumari from J P N High School, Narhan, Samastipur, and Anshu Kumari from Bhartiya Inter College, Gahiri, West Champaran, achieved the highest scores in the state, both securing 489 out of 500 marks, equivalent to 97.8%. They shared the top position with Ranjan Verma from Shiv Shankar Singh High School, Agiaon Bazar, Bhojpur. The overall pass percentage for class X stood at 82.11%, a slight decrease from the previous year's 82.91%. Out of the 15,58,077 students who appeared for the examination, 12,79,294 successfully cleared it. A significant portion of the successful candidates, 4,70,845 students, passed with first division, obtaining above 60%. 4,84,012 students secured second division, with scores between 45% and 60%, while 3,07,792 students were placed in the third division, achieving scores between 30% and 45%. Additionally, 16,645 students were categorized as having passed in the 'pass' category.

Board Chairman Anand Kishor highlighted the performance disparity between boys and girls, stating that boys recorded a pass percentage of 83.65%, while girls achieved 80.67%. He emphasized the remarkable achievement of Sakshi, Anshu, and Ranjan, who jointly emerged as the state toppers. A total of 123 students secured positions in the top 10 merit list, comprising 63 boys and 60 girls. The top five positions were occupied by 25 students, while ranks 6 to 10 included 98 students. Kishor also underscored the Board's commitment to modernizing the examination system through technology. He proudly announced that, since 2019, the BSEB has consistently published the class X results before other examination boards in the country, a feat they have accomplished for the seventh consecutive year in 2025. This efficiency is attributed to technology-based improvements, enabling the Board to release the results of over 1.5 million students within 29 days from the commencement of the evaluation process.

Education Minister Sunil Kumar declared the class X board results and extended his congratulations to all the top scorers and successful candidates. He also emphasized the state government's commitment to supporting girl students through various financial assistance schemes up to graduation and preparation for competitive exams. S Siddharth, Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department, outlined the department's plans to enhance computer literacy in schools. He stated that the department aims to provide computer knowledge to students in classes 5 to 10 and establish computer labs. He further acknowledged that students demonstrated weakness in mathematics, prompting him to instruct officers to organize extra math classes starting in April and conduct refresher courses to foster greater interest in the subject.

The Board has announced increased cash rewards for the toppers. The first-rank holders will now receive Rs 2 lakh, while the second and third-rank holders will get Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 1 lakh, respectively. Students securing positions from fourth to tenth will be awarded Rs 20,000 each. Each topper will also receive a laptop, certificate, and a medal. Furthermore, the amount of the 'BSEB Deshratna Dr Rajendra Prasad Medha Scholarship' payable to the top 10 rank holders will be increased to Rs 2,000 per month, up from the previous Rs 1,200 per month. The consistent and persistent efforts to modernise the examination system by the BSEB has yielded desired results. The board is using advanced technological tools to conduct and evaluate the examinations and declare the results in a very short duration of time. In the earlier times, when technology was not in much use, the whole examination process used to take a very long time and the declaration of results was delayed by many months. This delay in the declaration of results used to impact the academic career of the students very adversely. Now with the use of technology, the examinations are conducted and the results are declared in a timely manner. This has also helped in improving the overall pass percentage and the quality of education in the state.
