Among the top performers, Priya Jaiswal, a student in the Science Faculty, emerged as the overall topper in Bihar, securing an impressive total of 484 marks (96.80%). In the Arts Faculty, Ankita Kumari and Shakib Shah jointly secured the first place by securing 473 marks (94.60%), demonstrating their excellence in humanities and social sciences. Roshni Kumari emerged as the topper in the Commerce Faculty, securing the first place with a total of 475 marks (95%), highlighting her aptitude for business and finance-related subjects. Overall, 5,08,540 candidates passed in the first division, 5,07,002 candidates in the second division, and 91,788 candidates in the third division, reflecting the distribution of academic performance among the students. Out of the total 6,37,797 girl students who appeared in the examination, 5,59,097 girls passed, resulting in a passing percentage of 87.67%. Similarly, out of the 6,42,414 boys who appeared in the examination, 5,48,233 passed, which is 85.34% of the total. These figures further emphasize the superior performance of girls in the Class 12 examinations. Recognizing the importance of incentivizing academic excellence, the BSEB has doubled the prize money given to the students securing the first five positions in all three faculties. The committee will now provide ₹2 lakh instead of ₹1 lakh to the student securing the first position, ₹1.5 lakh instead of ₹75,000 for the second position, and ₹1 lakh instead of ₹50,000 for the third position. The students securing the fourth and fifth positions will be given ₹30,000 instead of ₹15,000. Apart from the prize money, all the awarded students will also receive a laptop, certificate, and medal, further recognizing their achievements and providing them with valuable resources to support their future academic endeavors.
Furthermore, the amount of the ‘Bihar School Examination Committee Deshratna Dr. Rajendra Prasad Medha Scholarship’ given to the topper students by the committee has also been increased from this year. The students securing the top five positions in all three faculties will be given ₹2,500 per month as a scholarship instead of ₹1,500 per month. This scholarship amount will be provided for three years if the student is enrolled in a general graduation course in an institute recognized by the State government or Central government. However, if the student is enrolled in a Graduate Technical Education course and studies regularly, or for five years for an Integrated five-year course, then the scholarship will be given for four years. Similarly, if the student is enrolled in a Technical Education Diploma course and studies regularly, then the scholarship will be given until the completion of the said course. These increased scholarships will provide significant financial support to the top-performing students, enabling them to pursue their higher education aspirations without financial constraints. The BSEB's commitment to supporting talented students is evident in these initiatives. Mr. Kishor also announced that students who are not satisfied with their marks can opt for scrutiny by applying online for the scrutiny of their answer sheet of that subject from April 1 to 8. This provision ensures transparency and allows students to address any concerns they may have regarding the evaluation of their answer sheets.
