A series of tragic events has unfolded in the Budhal village of Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir, leaving a community grappling with grief and uncertainty. Over a period of 45 days, 16 people perished due to an unexplained illness, prompting a comprehensive investigation by various government agencies and health experts. The initial incidents, starting on December 7, 2024, involved multiple families falling ill after consuming meals at community gatherings. The first incident saw five fatalities within one family, and subsequent incidents resulted in further deaths, raising significant concerns about a potential common cause. Bhatia of Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri confirmed the brain damage caused by these toxins and explained that once the brain damage is severe, recovery is highly unlikely.
