Priyanka Gandhi Accuses Modi of Ignoring Manufacturing, Jobs
  • Priyanka Gandhi criticizes Modi's economic policies
  • She alleges favoritism towards PM's business friends
  • Gandhi pledges to support rural communities

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the AICC general secretary, has launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of neglecting the manufacturing sector and job creation while favoring his business associates. She made these allegations during a series of campaign rallies in Wayanad, Kerala, where she is contesting the upcoming bypolls as a United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate. Gandhi's criticism focuses on Modi's economic policies and their alleged impact on the common people, particularly in rural areas.

Gandhi claims that the Modi government has been prioritizing its own business interests over the needs of the people. She asserts that the regime has been systematically transferring land from tribal communities to the Prime Minister's friends in the business sector. This allegation is coupled with her observation that public sector undertakings (PSUs), road contracts, seaports, and airports are being handed over to Modi's favored business entities. This pattern of alleged favoritism, according to Gandhi, undermines the economic well-being of the nation and benefits only a select few.

Gandhi further criticizes the Modi government's approach to the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee (MNREGA) program, a crucial initiative launched by the UPA government to provide employment security in rural areas. She argues that the BJP administration is actively weakening the scheme, which is a lifeline for many impoverished rural communities. Gandhi contrasts the Modi government's actions with the Congress party's commitment to empowering rural communities by ensuring the MNREGA remains a robust and effective support system. She has also called for an increase in MNREGA wages, currently at Rs 346 per day, highlighting the inadequate compensation received by rural workers.
