The tragic news of the passing of Sameer Khan, son-in-law of NCP functionary Nawab Malik, has sent shockwaves through the political circles in India. Khan, who was hospitalized following an incident on September 18th, succumbed to his injuries at Criticare Hospital on Sunday. The accident, which involved an SUV, left Khan with severe injuries, including a brain clot and multiple fractures to his ribs, shoulder, and neck.
According to reports, Khan was waiting outside a Kurla hospital with his wife, Nilofar, for their vehicle after a routine medical check-up. It was during this time that the driver, identified as Abdul Ansari, mistakenly hit the accelerator instead of the brakes, causing the SUV to collide with Khan. The impact propelled Khan for approximately 10-15 feet before pinning him between the vehicle and a boundary wall of an SRA building. The incident also resulted in the driver knocking over several parked bikes.
Following the accident, Vinobha Bhave Nagar police station registered a case against Ansari for rash driving and negligence, as well as negligent acts that endanger human life or personal safety. The police have issued an arrest notice to Ansari, who has been employed by the family for an extended period. Blood samples have been collected from Ansari to rule out any possibility of alcohol consumption, and investigations are underway to determine the precise cause of the accident. Experts are being consulted to analyze the vehicle for any potential technical issues.
