Modi Vows to Make 3 Crore Women 'Lakhpati Didi' in Maharashtra Election Rally
  • PM Modi promises to make 3 crore women 'Lakhpati Didi'.
  • He criticizes MVA for hindering development in Maharashtra.
  • Mahayuti government is working to empower women.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during an election rally in Maharashtra's Solapur, outlined his vision for empowering women by promising to make three crore women 'Lakhpati didi' (millionaire sisters). He emphasized the Mahayuti government's commitment to women's empowerment, citing the 'Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana' as a prime example. This scheme, however, has faced legal challenges from the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), which, according to Modi, attempted to prevent women from benefiting from it. He strongly criticized the MVA for their attempts to hinder development projects in the state, accusing them of having a 'PHD' in stalling and delaying crucial initiatives.

Modi, in another rally at Chandrapur's Chimur, further escalated his attack on the MVA, labelling them as the 'biggest player of corruption' and accusing them of putting a deliberate pause on development projects. He highlighted their efforts to obstruct various development initiatives, particularly the long-awaited rail connectivity in Chandrapur, a project that the Congress and the MVA allegedly prevented from materializing. These attacks come at a time when the election campaign is heating up in Maharashtra, with the Mahayuti and the MVA vying for power in the upcoming Assembly elections.

The MVA, a coalition of the Congress, Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT), and Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (SCP), is facing a formidable challenge from the Mahayuti, led by Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Modi's rallies, with their focus on women's empowerment and accusations of corruption and development stagnation against the MVA, are part of a larger strategy to garner support for the Mahayuti and sway voters in their favor. The upcoming elections are expected to be closely contested, with both alliances leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to secure victory.
