Arshdeep Singh Gill, known as Arsh Dalla, a Khalistani terrorist, was recently apprehended in Canada. Dalla, a resident of Surrey, British Columbia, faces over 50 criminal charges, including murder, attempted murder, extortion, and acts of terrorism. Both Punjab Police and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) of India are actively seeking his extradition, with the NIA offering a reward of ₹10 lakh for information leading to his arrest.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, confirmed Dalla’s designation as a terrorist in India in 2023. He also mentioned the issuance of a Red Corner Notice in May 2022 and the Indian government's request for his provisional arrest in July 2023. Reports indicate that Dalla was a close associate of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a slain Sikh leader in Canada, and assumed leadership of the Khalistani Tiger Force (KTF) following Nijjar's death.
Dalla's criminal activities extend beyond Canada, with his terrorist network encompassing the United States, Europe, and parts of the Middle East. He gained notoriety for orchestrating violent crimes in India, targeting prominent individuals like Balli and Manohar Lal, a member of the Dera Sacha Sauda. Dalla's recruitment efforts on social media platforms further complicate his criminal profile, as he allegedly enticed young individuals from Punjab and Haryana to support his operations.
The arrest of Arsh Dalla in Canada marks a significant development in the fight against terrorism and organized crime. His apprehension raises several questions regarding the potential ramifications for India's security and the role of international cooperation in combating transnational criminal networks. Further investigations into Dalla's activities and his connections are likely to shed more light on the complex dynamics of the Khalistani movement and its global reach.
