The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 player mega auction is set to be a fiercely competitive event with 1,574 players vying for a spot on one of the ten IPL franchises. Scheduled for November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the auction will see teams finalize their rosters for the next three years. A total of 204 slots are available across the franchises, with each team allowed a maximum squad of 25 players.
Indian players dominate the registration list with a whopping 1,165 players, while 409 overseas players will also be vying for a coveted IPL contract. The registered players include a mix of experienced and new talent. A significant number, 320 players, have represented their national teams, including 48 Indians and 272 internationals. Furthermore, 1,224 players are uncapped, with 965 Indians and 104 internationals seeking their first IPL opportunity. Among the uncapped players, 152 Indians have participated in previous IPL seasons, and 3 uncapped internationals have also gained prior IPL experience.
The IPL 2025 mega auction will see players enter with a base price attached to them. Teams can bid for their services at the base price or increase their offer. Adding to the excitement, teams that had employed players in IPL 2024 have the luxury of retaining them by using their respective Right to Match (RTM) cards. This right allows teams to match the highest bid received for a player they wish to retain. This dynamic aspect adds a strategic layer to the auction process.
The list of Indian players with a base price of Rs. 2 crore includes: Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, R Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Shami, Khaleel Ahmed, Deepak Chahar, Venkatesh Iyer, Avesh Khan, Ishan Kishan, Mukesh Kumar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Prasidh Krishna, T. Natarajan, Devdutt Padikkal, Krunal Pandya, Harshal Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Siraj, and Umesh Yadav. These players, representing a blend of established stars and emerging talents, will attract significant interest from teams looking to bolster their squads.
