Honda has unveiled the digital sketches of the highly anticipated third-generation Amaze, a compact sedan set to make its grand entrance in India on December 4th. This new iteration of the popular model is poised to face off against stiff competition from established players like the recently launched Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura, and Tata Tigor.
Designed at Honda's R&D Asia Pacific center in Thailand, the Amaze is taking inspiration from the Honda City, adopting several design elements to give it a more refined and modern look compared to its predecessor. The front design is expected to feature a near-upright hexagonal grille, flanked by sleek LED headlights, and a prominent shoulder line. The rear end, as depicted in the digital sketches, borrows heavily from the City's design, with wraparound taillights that showcase an S-shaped LED light signature.
In addition to the sleek design elements, the new Amaze is expected to boast a number of features that aim to enhance both its aesthetics and practicality. These include a shark fin antenna, dual-tone alloy wheels, and a clean, crisp overall design. Stepping inside, the Amaze's dashboard layout is anticipated to resemble that of the Honda Elevate, featuring a two-tone black and beige theme with silver highlights. The centerpiece of the cabin will be a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, likely a spacious 10.25-inch unit.
Further enhancing the interior's appeal, the car is likely to include rectangular air conditioning vents, a compact climate control module, and a three-spoke steering wheel. While a sunroof seems unlikely, there are indications that the new Amaze might come equipped with an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite, a first-in-segment feature. Under the hood, the new Amaze will retain the familiar 1.2-litre petrol engine, capable of generating 89 BHP and 110 Nm of torque. This engine will be available with a choice of a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic, with speculations suggesting that CNG-powered variants might be introduced at a later stage.
The new Honda Amaze is strategically positioned to take on the all-new Dzire and will face stiff competition from the Hyundai Aura and Tata Tigor. Pricing details for the new Amaze will be unveiled on December 4th, the same day as its official launch. This strategic timing aligns with Honda's aim to capture a significant share of the compact sedan market in India.
