Honda Cars India is set to unveil the third-generation Honda Amaze on December 4th, marking a significant addition to their Indian lineup. This redesigned compact sedan, born from the ingenuity of Honda R&D Asia Pacific in Thailand, is poised to make a statement in the competitive Indian market.
While Honda currently offers only three models in India – the Amaze, City, and Elevate – the arrival of the new Amaze will further bolster their presence. It will directly challenge the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura, and Tata Tigor, promising a heated battle for dominance in the compact sedan segment.
The new Amaze flaunts a bold, refreshed design, evident in its sleek, modern aesthetics. The design sketches reveal a redesigned grille flanked by LED headlights, drawing inspiration from the popular Honda Elevate. The rear end boasts Z-shaped LED taillights, a design feature borrowed from the Honda City, adding a touch of sophistication. New alloy wheels complete the package, promising a sharper, more captivating visual appeal.
Stepping into the new Amaze, passengers will be greeted by a revamped interior, featuring a redesigned dashboard with sleek air-con vents. A new free-standing touchscreen infotainment system promises a user-friendly and modern in-car experience. The steering wheel has also been revamped, incorporating controls for audio and phone calls. Adding to the comfort and convenience, the new Amaze offers features like automatic climate control, a wireless charger, and cruise control. For safety, the new Amaze is anticipated to be equipped with six airbags.
Powering the new Amaze is the familiar 1.2-liter 4-cylinder SOHC i-VTEC petrol engine, capable of delivering 90PS of power and 110Nm of torque. This engine will be paired with a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT automatic, offering drivers the choice between smooth and efficient driving experiences.
While the outgoing model was priced between Rs 7.19 lakh and Rs 9.95 lakh (ex-showroom), the new Honda Amaze is expected to be priced between Rs 7.25 lakh and Rs 10.10 lakh (ex-showroom). This pricing strategy positions the new Amaze competitively within the segment, making it a compelling option for buyers seeking a stylish and feature-rich compact sedan.
The Honda Amaze has a history of success in India, with the first generation launched in 2013 and the second in 2018. It faces stiff competition from the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, which holds a commanding market share of over 61% in the compact sedan segment. The new Honda Amaze, with its redesigned features and competitive pricing, hopes to challenge the Dzire's dominance and capture a substantial share of the market.
