A tragic incident unfolded in the Kabir Nagar area of North East Delhi, leaving one person dead and two others injured. The incident involved a brazen act of violence by three individuals on a motorcycle who opened fire on three friends returning home on a scooter. The victims, identified as Nadeem and his two companions, were on their way to pick up food when they were ambushed on a street.
The assailants unleashed a barrage of gunfire, firing seven rounds at the victims before fleeing the scene. Nadeem succumbed to his injuries, while his friend, who sustained serious wounds, remains in critical condition at Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital. The attackers, in a desperate attempt to escape, seized Nadeem's scooter and mobile phone, leaving their own motorcycle behind. Locals quickly rushed to the scene and transported the injured to the hospital.
Following the incident, Delhi Police initiated an investigation into the murder and attempted murder, dispatching the deceased's body for a post-mortem examination. The investigation led to the apprehension of three minors, who are believed to be responsible for the attack. According to sources, one of the arrested minors had borrowed money from Nadeem and was facing pressure to repay the debt. The police are meticulously examining CCTV footage to piece together the events of that fateful night.
The assailants' involvement extends beyond this particular incident. The same group is suspected of perpetrating another firing incident in the nearby Jyoti Nagar area. Earlier that night, they allegedly discharged six rounds outside the residence of a man named Rahul. The three apprehended juveniles, now in custody, were found in possession of three country-made pistols, and interrogations are underway to uncover further details about their motives and connections.
In a separate operation, the Delhi Police's Crime Branch successfully apprehended two key members of an arms supply syndicate, seizing 13 pistols. Shakeel, the mastermind behind the syndicate, has been implicated in over 17 criminal cases, including his alleged participation in the Hanuman Jayanti riots in Jahangirpuri. In a significant crackdown on illegal arms trafficking, over 50 pistols have been recovered from various suppliers in the past week alone.
