Crackers Explode in Eluru, Killing One

A tragic accident occurred in Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, on Thursday, leaving one person dead and five others injured. The incident took place near the Gowramma temple in Toorpu Veedhi when a group of individuals were transporting firecrackers in a gunny bag on a two-wheeler. The deceased, identified as D. Sudhakar of Maruthi Nagar, was carrying the bag with another person when the crackers detonated, resulting in a fatal explosion.

The injured individuals, all hailing from the same area as the deceased, were immediately rushed to the hospital for medical treatment. The incident sparked a wave of shock and grief among the local community, as well as concerns regarding safety protocols surrounding the handling of firecrackers, especially during festive seasons. Authorities are investigating the cause of the explosion to determine if any negligence or safety violations contributed to the tragic accident.

In the aftermath of the incident, Housing Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy, accompanied by Eluru MLA Badeti Radhakrishna and other officials, visited the victims and offered their condolences. The Minister assured the family of the deceased that one member would be offered a job on an outsourcing basis. Additionally, the Eluru Municipal Corporation pledged financial aid of ₹2 lakh, while the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) committed to providing ₹1 lakh to the family. The Minister and the MLA also visited the Government General Hospital to inquire about the health of the injured and directed the doctors to provide the best possible medical care.
