The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) trust board has undergone a recent reshuffle with the appointment of new members, including a prominent figure from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The Andhra Pradesh government officially released the list of board members on Friday, revealing that BJP spokesperson G Bhanu Prakash Reddy has been included in the new TTD board. This addition brings the total number of members to 29, comprising 25 non-officials and 4 officials.
The new chairman of the TTD trust board is Bollineni Rajagopal Naidu, a prominent media baron and native of Chittoor district. His appointment followed a period of intense lobbying from various aspirants vying for the coveted position. Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu ultimately made the decision to appoint BR Naidu as the new chairman. The trust board also includes several notable figures, such as former Chief Justice of India and former chairman of the National Human Rights Commission HL Dattu, and Bharath Biotech founder Dr Suchitra Ella.
It is noteworthy that two prominent figures who were nominated to the TTD trust board during the previous YSRCP regime have been reappointed in the new board constituted by the TDP government. These individuals are Krishnamurthy (Tamil Nadu) and Saurabh H Bora (Maharashtra). The other members nominated to the TTD trust board include Narsi Reddy, Sambasiva Rao (Jasthi Shiva), Sadasivam Rao Nannapaneni, Koteshwar Rao, Mallela Rajasekhar Goud, RN Darshan, Shantaram, P Ramoorthy, Janaki Devi Thammisetty, Boogunooru Mahender Reddy, Anugolu Rangasri, Buragapu Ananda Sai, Naresh Kumar, and Dr Adit Desai. This latest appointment of Dr Adit Desai marks the second time a Gujarati individual has been appointed to the TTD trust board.
The appointment of Dr Adit Desai follows his father, Dr Ketan Desai, who served as the first Gujarati member of the TTD trust board during the YSRCP regime in 2021. Dr Ketan Desai, the former MCI chief, had faced charges of financial fraud and irregularities. The inclusion of G Bhanu Prakash Reddy from the BJP in the new TTD trust board highlights the changing political landscape in Andhra Pradesh, suggesting a shift in alliances and power dynamics. It will be interesting to observe how this new board composition influences the future of the TTD and its various initiatives.
