Train Derailment at 'King Point' Disrupts Rail Lines
  • A suburban train derailed at Kalyan station.
  • The derailment occurred at 'King Point,' a crucial location.
  • Train movement was affected on both Pune and Nashik corridors.

A suburban local train derailed at Kalyan station in Maharashtra on Friday evening, causing significant disruption to train services on both the Pune and Nashik corridors. The incident occurred at a critical location known as 'King Point,' which is located at the Kasara end of Kalyan Platform Number 2. This derailment led to a complete halt of train movement not only at Kalyan but also at Kasara and Karjat sections.

The derailment involved a state coach, which went off the tracks at point number 148 at Kasara. The incident significantly impacted local trains on both sides of the affected area. The Karjat direction movement was restored approximately an hour after the derailment, and mail express trains that were obstructing the movement of relief trains were diverted via a different route: Karjat Lonavala Pune Daund and back to Manmad. This alternative route ensured the smooth flow of relief trains to the derailment site.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident. The rerailment process was completed at 12:20 AM, and an empty local train was deployed from the derailment site at 12:40 AM to clear the affected platform-2. The platform was cleared by 12:42 AM, and efforts were initiated to restore normal train services as quickly as possible. This incident highlights the crucial role of 'King Points' in railway operations and the potential impact of derailments on passenger travel and transportation networks.
