The State of Uttar Pradesh, represented by Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi, argued against Ansari's release, highlighting his alleged involvement in other cases, including a Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) case. The State also claimed that Ansari's wife had been apprehended carrying two mobile phones within the jail premises, which Ansari allegedly used to intimidate witnesses and officials. However, the Supreme Court, in its final ruling, did not impose the condition of providing phone passcodes.
