The controversy surrounding the alleged adulteration of ghee used in making the Tirumala laddu prasadam continues to escalate, with APCC president Y.S. Sharmila adding her voice to the calls for a thorough investigation. Sharmila, addressing the media on Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary, urged the State government to seriously consider the Supreme Court's suggestion for a CBI inquiry into the matter. She emphasized that the Congress party had been advocating for a CBI probe from the outset and now believes the state should follow the apex court's advice to ensure a transparent and impartial investigation.

Sharmila's statement comes in the wake of mounting pressure on the State government to address the concerns surrounding the quality of the laddu prasadam. The alleged adulteration of the ghee has sparked outrage among devotees and raised questions about the quality control measures in place at the Tirumala temple. The Supreme Court's suggestion for a CBI inquiry is seen by many as a significant step towards ensuring accountability and addressing the concerns of the public.

Sharmila also took the opportunity to criticize the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre, accusing it of implementing an “RSS-designed constitution” that divides people based on religion, caste, and state. She further alleged that the BJP is following an “RSS ideology” that stands in stark contrast to the Congress party's adherence to the “Bapu ideology” that she claims united the nation. Sharmila concluded by asserting that the Congress party, under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, will continue to fight for national unity and strive to liberate the country from the “grip of the BJP.”
