Savitri Jindal, 2 MLAs Back BJP in Haryana
  • Three Independent MLAs, including Savitri Jindal, will support BJP.
  • BJP won a historic third consecutive term in Haryana.
  • Jindal, Kadyan and Joon met with BJP leadership.

The political landscape of Haryana took an intriguing turn as three Independent MLAs, including India's wealthiest woman Savitri Jindal, indicated their support for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the state. This move comes after the BJP secured a historic third consecutive victory in the recent Haryana elections. The three Independents, Jindal, Devender Kadyan, and Rajesh Joon, met with the BJP high command and the state election in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan to discuss their future political alignment. The BJP's strong showing in the elections, securing 48 seats out of 90, puts them comfortably past the halfway mark. However, the support of the three Independent MLAs will further solidify their position in the assembly.

Savitri Jindal, a prominent figure in Indian business and politics, won the Hisar seat as an Independent. She had previously served as a minister in the last Congress government in Haryana and had won the Hisar seat twice before, in 2005 and 2009. While Jindal's decision to back the BJP may not be surprising given her past political affiliations, it signals the potential for a shift in the power dynamics within Haryana politics. Devender Kadyan, a former BJP rebel, also secured victory as an Independent from the Ganaur constituency. Rajesh Joon, who defeated his BJP rival in the Bahadurgarh seat, completes the trio of Independents likely to lend support to the BJP.

The BJP's victory in Haryana marks a significant milestone for the party. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini is expected to return for a second term, having successfully led the BJP to this resounding triumph. The alliance with the three Independent MLAs will provide the BJP with a strong majority in the assembly and strengthen their control over the state's political landscape. This move could also signal a broader political strategy for the BJP, as they aim to consolidate their position in key states ahead of upcoming national elections.
