The recent murder of Baba Siddique, a Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and close friend of Bollywood actor Salman Khan, has once again brought to light the long-standing tension between Khan and the Bishnoi community. BJP Rajya Sabha MP Harnath Singh Yadav has called upon Salman Khan to issue a public apology to the Bishnoi community for an incident that occurred over 20 years ago: the killing of a blackbuck. The incident, which involved Khan allegedly hunting, cooking, and consuming a blackbuck, deeply offended the Bishnoi community, who consider the animal sacred.
Yadav, in a statement posted on his X account, highlighted the significance of the blackbuck to the Bishnoi community, emphasizing that they consider it a deity. He stated that Khan's actions had hurt their sentiments and sparked anger within the community. He urged Khan, recognizing his large following and influence, to apologize for his past actions and respect the sentiments of the Bishnoi community.
The Bishnoi community has long held animosity towards Salman Khan due to the blackbuck incident. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which has claimed responsibility for Siddique's murder, has also been linked to previous threats and attacks against Khan. In April, there was a firing incident outside Khan's apartment in Bandra, and his father, Salim Khan, received death threats. The Bishnoi gang's actions are seen as retaliation for the blackbuck incident and a warning to Salman Khan.
The murder of Baba Siddique has heightened the tension between Salman Khan and the Bishnoi community. Yadav's call for an apology is a clear attempt to de-escalate the situation and prevent further violence. However, it remains to be seen whether Khan will comply with this request. The Bishnoi community's deeply held beliefs and the gang's violent actions have created a complex and dangerous situation that could have significant consequences for Salman Khan and the entertainment industry.
