  • Pawan Kalyan's daughter Polina signed a declaration of faith before visiting the Tirupati temple.
  • Polina, an Overseas Citizen of India, signed the forms with her father, Pawan Kalyan.
  • Kalyan is on a three-day visit to the temple for penance due to the Tirupati laddoos controversy.

Pawan Kalyan, the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, recently took his younger daughter, Polina Anjani Konidela, to the Tirupati temple. Before entering the temple, Polina, an Overseas Citizen of India, had to sign a declaration of faith in the deity Lord Venkateswara, as per the temple's rules for non-Hindus and foreigners. Since she is a minor, Pawan Kalyan signed the papers alongside her. This visit to the Tirupati temple is part of a three-day trip for Pawan Kalyan, who is undertaking an 11-day penance due to a massive political row surrounding the Tirupati laddoos.

The controversy arose when Kalyan's ally, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, accused the YSRCP government of using animal fat in the preparation of the Tirupati laddoos. YSRCP leader and former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy vehemently denied these allegations. However, the accusations sparked a significant debate, leading Pawan Kalyan to express his guilt for not being aware of the alleged use of animal fat earlier.

Kalyan expressed his remorse, stating that he felt a sense of responsibility for not being able to identify the alleged use of animal fat in the laddoos previously. He viewed the incident as a transgression against Hindu beliefs, noting that the Tirumala Laddu Prasadam, considered sacred, had become impure due to the alleged actions of the past rulers. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Pawan Kalyan announced his decision to perform penance, choosing the Tirupati temple as the location for his spiritual cleansing.
