The International Cricket Council (ICC) had announced a substantial increase of 134% in the winner's prize money for this edition of the Women's T20 World Cup. As a result, the victorious New Zealand team received a generous cash prize of USD 2.34 million, equivalent to Rs 19.6 crore. The runner-up team, South Africa, was also awarded a considerable sum of USD 1.17 million, translating to Rs 9.8 crore. The ICC's decision to raise the prize money underscores their commitment to recognizing and rewarding the achievements of women's cricket.
Beyond the top two teams, the ICC also extended the prize money distribution to include the semi-finalists and the top three teams in the group stage. Australia and West Indies, the semi-finalists, each received USD 675,000 (Rs 5.7 crore). While the final group stage rankings were yet to be confirmed, Team India, with their impressive record of two wins in four matches, was highly likely to secure the sixth position and receive a prize of USD 270,000 (Rs 2.25 crore). This initiative aimed to encourage competitiveness and recognize the efforts of teams throughout the tournament.
