The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), led by Sharad Pawar, has released its second list of candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. This release brings the total number of NCP candidates to 67, a significant step in the party's campaign for the state's legislative seats.
The list includes a mix of incumbent MLAs and fresh faces, demonstrating the NCP's strategic approach to securing a foothold in the upcoming election. Notable figures on the list include Satish Anna Patil and Satish Chavan, who are contesting the Erandol-Parola and Gangapur constituencies respectively. The party has also fielded former MLA Pandurang Barora for the Shahpur seat, while Rahul Mote will be contesting from the Paranda Assembly segment.
Another key inclusion in the second list is Sandeep Kshirsagar, the sitting MLA of Beed, who will be vying to retain his seat on the NCP ticket. The party has also nominated Mayura Kale for Arvi, Deepika Chavan for Baghlan, Manikrao Shinde for Yevla, Uday Sangle for Sinnar, Sunita Charoskar for Dindori, Ganesh Geeta for Nashik-East, and Omi Kalani from Ulhasnagar, among others.
The NCP is part of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance in Maharashtra, along with the Congress and the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena. According to the seat-sharing agreement within the MVA, each partner has been allocated roughly 85 seats so far. However, the allocation process has not been entirely smooth, with the alliance still grappling with the distribution of over 20 seats.
The Samajwadi Party (SP), led by Akhilesh Yadav, has also made its demands known, requesting five seats for its candidates. The SP has even threatened to contest the election independently if its demands are not met. This signifies a potential hurdle for the MVA as it seeks to secure a unified front against its opponents. The upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections are scheduled for November 20, with the results to be declared on November 23.
This election promises to be a closely contested battle, with the NCP playing a crucial role in the MVA's efforts to secure victory. The release of the second candidate list highlights the party's active campaigning strategy and its determination to garner support from the electorate.
