The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, a coalition of the Congress, the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), and the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT), has finalized its seat-sharing arrangement for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections. According to Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut, each party will contest 85 seats in the election.
Raut stressed the importance of maintaining the MVA's unity ahead of the elections, stating that their unity should come before the people. He also emphasized the need for the elections to be held without any hindrance. Raut acknowledged that a list of candidates circulating on social media requires corrections, but assured that the final list will be released by the evening.
The MVA's decision comes as the nomination process for the Maharashtra assembly elections has begun. The elections are scheduled for November 20, with the results to be announced on November 23. The assembly has 288 seats.
The MVA is facing off against the ruling Mahayuti alliance, which comprises the BJP alongside the Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) and the Ajit Pawar-led NCP. Both alliances have intensified their preparations as the polling date approaches.
The upcoming election is expected to be highly contested, with both alliances vying for control of the state assembly. The MVA's seat-sharing agreement signifies their commitment to working together in the run-up to the elections. The outcome of the election will have significant implications for the political landscape in Maharashtra.
