Mumbai's Rain to Subside, Dry and Hotter Days Ahead
  • Mumbai to experience dry weather this week.
  • Rainfall expected to lessen and cease after Wednesday.
  • Temperatures expected to rise in the coming days.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced that Mumbai will experience a change in weather patterns this week, with dry conditions replacing the recent unseasonal rainfall. The city has been experiencing showers and thunderstorms for the past week, accompanied by a yellow alert issued by IMD due to the continued presence of the southwest monsoon. However, starting from Tuesday, the rainfall is expected to significantly reduce, eventually ceasing altogether by Wednesday.

The lessening of rainfall will result in a rise in temperatures across Mumbai. While light showers and thunderstorms may persist in pockets of the district for the next 2-3 days, IMD has not issued any yellow alerts for the city from Tuesday onwards. Despite the previous yellow alert, the Santacruz and Colaba weather stations recorded zero mm rain between Sunday and Monday mornings, indicating a clear shift in the weather pattern.

The withdrawal of the southwest monsoon on October 15th did not immediately lead to a complete cessation of rainfall, resulting in unseasonal showers and thunderstorms over the past week. While the Colaba station recorded 131 mm rain in October alone, the IMD's announcement signals a return to drier conditions, bringing relief from the recent inclement weather. The changing weather patterns are expected to continue, with the possibility of light showers and thunderstorms in specific areas of the city in the coming days.
