The accused, identified as Gajanan, had ordered an Apple iPhone worth ₹1.5 lakh (approximately $1,800) from the e-commerce platform Flipkart, opting for the Cash on Delivery (COD) payment option. However, instead of settling the bill, he decided to eliminate the delivery person, Bharat Sahu, to avoid paying for the expensive phone.
The chilling details of the crime paint a picture of cold-blooded calculation and a callous disregard for human life. On September 23, Sahu arrived at Gajanan's residence to deliver the iPhone. Gajanan, along with an accomplice, who remains unidentified, then strangled Sahu, stuffing his body into a sack and dumping it into the Indira Canal. The victim's family, alerted by his absence, lodged a missing person report two days later, on September 25. Police, investigating the case, were able to trace Sahu's last location through his phone, leading them to his friend Akash. During questioning, Akash confessed to the crime, implicating Gajanan in the heinous act.
