The process, which began on Tuesday, October 22, will continue until October 29, with submission windows open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This period allows potential candidates to formally declare their intent to contest the elections for the 38 assembly constituencies that will be voting in this phase.
The detailed schedule for the electoral process outlines the following key steps: Scrutiny of all nominations will be conducted on October 30, providing an opportunity for election officials to verify the eligibility of each candidate. Candidates who are deemed ineligible or wish to withdraw their candidacy have until November 1 to do so. This thorough vetting process ensures that only qualified individuals compete for the seats in the upcoming assembly elections.
The two-phase elections in Jharkhand, which began with the first phase on November 13, will culminate in the counting of votes on November 23, 2024. The second phase, encompassing 38 constituencies, will see a large number of voters participate, including a significant portion of first-time voters. Approximately 2.60 crore electors, including 11.84 lakh first-time voters, are expected to cast their ballots in the second phase, marking a substantial increase from the 2.23 crore voters who participated in the 2019 assembly elections.
