Goyal's meetings with CEOs of major companies in New York centered on reforms implemented by the Indian government to attract investments. Surat, a hub for the diamond industry, was highlighted as a promising area for investment opportunities. The visit also included a luncheon meeting with 17 CEOs from the CEO forum in Washington, where discussions revolved around restructuring the forum and signing MoUs to strengthen business ties between India and the US. This meeting further solidified the intent to forge stronger business connections, beyond the traditional focus on visas.
The scope of discussions went beyond mere trade and investment, delving into broader areas of cooperation such as clean energy development, technology transfer, digital telecommunications, and defense partnerships. While biosciences remained a topic of conversation, Goyal acknowledged limited progress on biofuels due to the upcoming US elections. The meetings also touched upon establishing a stable exchange rate between the Indian rupee and the US dollar, a move that could benefit bilateral trade significantly. Tourism and development of the digital economy were also key topics discussed during the visit.
