The Indian Air Force (IAF) is actively upgrading its infrastructure along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), particularly in the Ladakh sector, mirroring China's rapid infrastructure development in the region. This revelation came from Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh during a press conference preceding Air Force Day. The IAF chief emphasized the importance of indigenous weapon systems in navigating future security challenges, aiming for a completely domestically produced inventory by 2047.
Singh also disclosed that Russia has delivered three units of the S-400 missile system to India, with the remaining two units scheduled for delivery next year. The S-400 is a sophisticated, long-range air defense system that significantly bolsters India's air defense capabilities. These developments highlight the increasing strategic importance of the LAC and the ongoing geopolitical tensions between India and China.
The LAC, the de facto border separating India and China, has witnessed heightened tensions in recent years. The two nations engaged in a prolonged military standoff in 2020, which underscored the need for enhanced defense capabilities.
