The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy rainfall across various regions of India, with Mumbai experiencing significant waterlogging due to recent downpours. The forecast predicts isolated heavy rainfall in Konkan & Goa, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Madhya Maharashtra, and Gujarat on Friday. Mumbai was particularly affected on Thursday evening, with waterlogging reported in areas like Elphinstone Road and NM Joshi Marg in Prabha Devi. Visuals captured people struggling to navigate waterlogged roads in several parts of the city.
The IMD has issued a nationwide warning for heavy rainfall from October 12-16, anticipating widespread precipitation across numerous states. These include Tamil Nadu, Kerala, South Interior Karnataka, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Arunachal Pradesh, and Gujarat. The heaviest rainfall is expected in Kerala and Tamil Nadu on October 13, while Konkan, Goa, Gujarat, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are also anticipated to experience heavy rain on the same day.
On October 14, heavy rainfall is predicted in South Interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Saurashtra and Kutch. However, the national capital, Delhi, is expected to have clear skies with a maximum temperature of 35 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 22 degrees Celsius. The IMD's forecast provides valuable information for residents and authorities across India to prepare for the anticipated rainfall and take necessary precautions to mitigate potential risks associated with flooding and waterlogging.
