Gujarat ATS Busts Huge Drug Lab in Bhopal

The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) have successfully dismantled a large-scale illegal narcotics lab in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, seizing a staggering 907 kilograms of mephedrone (MD) valued at Rs 1,814 crore in the international market. This operation marks a significant victory in the ongoing fight against drug trafficking and production within India, highlighting the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies to curb this illicit trade.

The operation, which was conducted based on intelligence gathered by the Gujarat ATS, resulted in the apprehension of two individuals – Amit Chaturvedi, a resident of Bhopal, and Sanyal Bane, a resident of Nashik, Maharashtra. These individuals were allegedly responsible for establishing and operating the sophisticated drug manufacturing facility in Bhopal. Following the investigation, a team comprising officers from the Gujarat ATS and NCB raided the factory in Bhopal, leading to the arrest of the two accused and the seizure of the massive quantity of MD, both in liquid and solid forms.

This bust is being hailed as the biggest lab operation conducted by the Gujarat ATS to date. The Gujarat ATS, under the direction of DIG Sunil Joshi, has been actively working to enforce the government's 'No Drug' policy. The agency has been focusing on dismantling drug smuggling operations and targeting individuals and organizations involved in the production of MD and other synthetic drugs within the country. This successful operation serves as a testament to their dedication and commitment to combating drug trafficking and protecting the nation from the devastating effects of drug abuse.
