A chilling case of murder has shaken the city of Delhi, highlighting the vulnerability of women even in the face of seemingly safe relationships. A 20-year-old woman from Nangloi, Delhi, was tragically strangled to death by her boyfriend, Sanju, and her body was subsequently discovered buried in the Madina area of Rohtak, Haryana. This heinous crime underscores the need for greater societal awareness and robust legal frameworks to ensure the safety and protection of women from such acts of violence.

The victim, who was in a relationship with Sanju, became pregnant and pressured him to marry her. However, Sanju’s feelings for the woman began to wane, leading to his sinister plan to end their relationship permanently. On October 20th, under the guise of celebrating the Karva Chauth fast, Sanju lured the woman to a remote location on the Rohtak-Bahadurgarh highway. While driving, the woman sensed danger and attempted to resist, but Sanju, driven by his murderous intent, strangled her to death.

Following the woman’s disappearance on October 20th, her brother filed a missing person report at the Nangloi police station the next day, naming Sanju as a suspect. The police, through diligent investigation, discovered frequent phone calls between the woman and Sanju, the last one being from him. This crucial evidence, coupled with other leads, ultimately led to Sanju’s arrest. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime, revealing the horrifying details of the murder and the subsequent burial of the victim’s body.

The arrest of Sanju and his accomplices serves as a stark reminder of the importance of swift and decisive action by law enforcement agencies in tackling violent crimes against women. However, it is equally crucial to address the underlying societal issues that contribute to such heinous acts. These include gender inequality, misogyny, and a lack of awareness regarding consent and healthy relationships. By fostering an environment of respect, empathy, and equality, we can work towards preventing such tragic incidents from occurring in the future.
