  • Delhi Police busted a drug cartel
  • Seized 562 kg cocaine and 40 kg
  • Arrested four accused, including Tushar Goyal

A major drug bust in Delhi has resulted in the seizure of a staggering amount of narcotics, including cocaine and hydroponic marijuana, valued at an estimated ₹5,000 crore. The Delhi Police's Special Cell, acting on a tip-off from a central intelligence agency, apprehended four individuals allegedly involved in the drug trade, including Tushar Goyal, a prominent figure in the city's publishing industry.

The operation began in the first week of August when the Special Cell received information about an international drug cartel smuggling cocaine into Delhi. Over the following three months, the team meticulously investigated the cartel's activities, identifying key members and keeping them under surveillance. The arrests of Goyal, Himanshu Kumar, Aurangzeb Siddiqui, and Bharat Kumar Jain brought the operation to a successful conclusion.

Goyal, a graduate of IP University, is the son of a prominent publisher and was the primary receiver and distributor of narcotics for the cartel in India. Kumar, a former gym instructor and bouncer, joined Goyal's operation after their paths crossed. Siddiqui, a former driver for Goyal, also became involved in the drug cartel. Jain, who hails from Mumbai, was apprehended in Delhi while attempting to collect a consignment of 15 kg of cocaine from Goyal.

The investigation revealed that the main kingpin of the cartel is believed to be operating from a Middle Eastern country. The seized cocaine was estimated to be worth ₹10 crore per kg in the international market, while the hydroponic marijuana was valued at ₹50 lakh per kg. The massive drug haul included 562 kg of cocaine and 40 kg of hydroponic marijuana, produced in Thailand, highlighting the cartel's reach and international network.

This significant drug bust underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies in India to combat the menace of drug trafficking. The case also highlights the evolving methods employed by drug cartels, including the use of sophisticated hydroponic techniques for marijuana cultivation, raising concerns about the increasing sophistication of these criminal networks.
