Congress-BJP Clash: 'Terrorist' vs 'Urban Naxal' Accusations
  • Kharge accused BJP of violence
  • Modi labeled Congress as 'urban naxal'
  • BJP refuted Kharge's allegations

The ongoing political discourse in India took a sharp turn with the latest exchange of accusations between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the opposition Congress party. The sparks flew after Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a recent rally, labelled the Congress as a party influenced by 'urban naxal sympathisers'. This comment sparked a fierce counter-attack from Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, who countered by branding the BJP as a 'terrorist party' responsible for violence against Scheduled Castes (SCs) and tribals.

Kharge, in a blistering speech, accused the BJP of fostering a culture of violence and enabling acts of mob lynching. He claimed that the BJP's actions are indicative of their true nature and that they are responsible for the rise in atrocities against marginalized communities. His statements were a direct response to Modi's accusations against the Congress, where the Prime Minister alleged that the party was appeasing foreign infiltrators for electoral gains.

The BJP, in its defense, dismissed Kharge's allegations as a desperate attempt to smear their reputation and an insult to the Indian electorate. They pointed to the BJP's electoral victories in 2014, 2019, and 2024 as evidence of their popularity and dismissed Kharge's claims as mere political rhetoric. The verbal sparring between the two parties highlights the deep-seated political rivalry in India and the escalating rhetoric often employed during election campaigns.
