Coldplay Ticket Row: BookMyShow Denies Reseller Links
  • Coldplay ticket sales on BookMyShow faced issues.
  • Fans complained about ticket scalping and black marketing.
  • BookMyShow denied association with unauthorized resellers.

The highly anticipated Coldplay concert in India triggered a wave of excitement among fans, but it soon turned into a nightmare for many who found themselves struggling to secure tickets. After tickets went on sale through BookMyShow, fans reported facing long wait times and an inability to purchase tickets, leading to widespread frustration. This frustration was further compounded by the emergence of numerous resellers hawking tickets at significantly inflated prices, fueling accusations of black market activities and ticket scalping.

The Mumbai police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) took notice of the complaints from disgruntled fans, launching an investigation into the alleged black market operations surrounding the Coldplay concert tickets. In response to the growing controversy, BookMyShow issued a statement firmly denying any association with unauthorized ticket selling or reselling platforms. The platform further clarified its measures to prevent ticket scalping, stating that they implemented a limit of 4 tickets per user and maintained transparency in their communication channels.

Despite these efforts, BookMyShow acknowledged the unprecedented demand for Coldplay tickets, confirming that 13 million (1.3 crore) fans logged in to purchase tickets on September 22. The platform also revealed that they added an extra show to accommodate the overwhelming demand, highlighting the popularity of the band in India. However, the controversy surrounding the ticket sales underscores the need for robust measures to combat ticket scalping and protect fans from exploitative practices.
