BJP Sends Jalebi Order to Congress HQ, Poking Fun at Rahul Gandhi
  • BJP sent jalebi order to Congress HQ
  • Order was cash on delivery, addressed to Rahul Gandhi
  • Jalebi became symbol of BJP's victory in Haryana

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) celebrated its victory in the Haryana assembly elections with a playful jab at its rival, the Indian National Congress. In a lighthearted move, the BJP placed an order for 1 kilogram of jalebi, a popular Indian sweet, from Bikanervala, a well-known sweet shop in Delhi's Connaught Place. The order, cheekily addressed to 'Jalebi for Rahul Gandhi', was sent to the Congress headquarters at 24, Akbar Road. Adding to the playful nature of the gesture, the payment method was chosen as 'cash on delivery'.

The choice of jalebi was not random. During the election campaign, Rahul Gandhi had sampled jalebi from a local shop in Haryana's Guhana and suggested that it should be produced on an industrial scale to reach all corners of India and the world. This suggestion, however, was met with mockery by the BJP, who dismissed the idea of 'jalebi factories'. The BJP's decision to send a jalebi order to the Congress headquarters was a clear and humorous reference to this exchange, highlighting their victory in the Haryana elections.

The incident highlights the lighthearted nature of political rivalry in India, where even during election campaigns, a sense of humor prevails. It's a testament to the fact that political parties, while engaged in a battle for power, can still engage in light-hearted banter and playful jabs at each other. The jalebi order, while seemingly innocuous, served as a reminder of the BJP's triumph in Haryana and its success in turning Rahul Gandhi's comment about jalebi into a symbol of its victory.
