BJP Accuses Kejriwal of Misusing Taxpayer Funds
  • BJP protests allege Kejriwal misused taxpayer funds.
  • Kejriwal spent crores on luxury items at residence.
  • AAP remains silent on allegations of misuse.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a series of protests across Delhi, accusing Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal of misusing taxpayers' money for personal comfort during his tenure as Delhi Chief Minister. The BJP alleges that Kejriwal spent crores of rupees on lavish items and modern facilities at his official residence, known as 'Sheeshmahal,' located at 6 Flagstaff Road. The protests come after Kejriwal resigned as Delhi Chief Minister earlier this month and vacated the Flagstaff Road bungalow.

BJP leaders, including Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva, have claimed that 15 toilet seats installed at Sheeshmahal after spending lakhs of rupees have gone missing. Sachdeva alleged that these toilet seats were worth Rs. 12 lakhs and were stolen, highlighting the alleged misuse of taxpayer funds. The BJP is demanding an account of the crores of rupees spent on providing Kejriwal with a luxurious stay at the Sheeshmahal.

The AAP has remained silent on these accusations, with Chief Minister Atishi stating that the BJP could 'take over' the Flagstaff Road bungalow. Atishi has asserted that she will continue working for the people of Delhi even if she has to do it sitting on the street. The BJP, however, maintains that this issue directly impacts the people as taxpayers' money is involved and AAP cannot be allowed to 'loot' it. The protests and allegations raise concerns about transparency and accountability in the use of public funds by the Delhi government.

The controversy highlights a recurring theme in Indian politics, where accusations of corruption and misuse of public funds are often used as a political weapon. The BJP's accusations against Kejriwal are likely to be met with strong counter-arguments from the AAP, further deepening the political divide between the two parties. The outcome of this political battle will likely have significant implications for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.
