The murder of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, a prominent figure in the Indian political landscape, has sent shockwaves through the nation. The investigation into this heinous crime has unveiled a chillingly calculated plan involving a substantial cache of ammunition, firearms training gleaned from online platforms like YouTube, and meticulous escape strategies. The perpetrators, driven by an unknown motive, sought to ensure the murder was executed with precision, leaving no room for error or chance.
Four individuals have been apprehended in connection with the murder, including Gurmail Baljit Singh and Dharmaraj Rajesh Kashyap, the alleged shooters, along with Harishkumar Balakram Nisad and Pravin Lonkar, who are implicated as co-conspirators. The accused, armed with 65 bullets, a stockpile intended to guarantee they wouldn't run out of ammunition, carried out the attack on the night of October 12th. Six of these bullets were used to fatally wound Mr. Siddique outside his son Zeeshan Siddique's office in Bandra. Authorities have recovered two firearms used by the accused – an Austrian-made pistol and a locally manufactured country-made pistol, along with a significant quantity of live bullets.
The investigation has revealed a meticulously planned operation. The accused, initially intending to use a motorbike for the attack, had even purchased a second-hand bike for this purpose. However, a traffic accident involving two of the suspects forced them to change their escape plans, resorting to an auto-rickshaw instead. The perpetrators, after the murder, quickly changed their clothes to avoid detection, highlighting their awareness of the potential consequences of their actions. The involvement of multiple individuals, including those who provided financial support and logistical aid, points to a complex network of individuals operating in the shadows.
The primary suspect, Shubham Lonkar, allegedly a member of the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang, remains at large. Authorities have issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) against him, fearing he may attempt to escape to Nepal. His brother, Praveen Lonkar, has been apprehended for allegedly providing financial support to the killers. The police are actively pursuing Shubham Lonkar, leveraging intelligence to locate him and uncover the extent of his involvement in the crime.
