Kannada film star Darshan Thoogudeepa, currently facing judicial custody in connection with a murder case, was rushed to Vijayanagar Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS) in Bellary on October 22nd after experiencing severe back pain. This incident adds another layer of complexity to the high-profile case that has captivated the Kannada film industry and the public alike. The case stems from the murder of 33-year-old Renukaswamy, allegedly a fan of Darshan, who was found dead near the Sumanahalli Bridge in Bengaluru on June 9th. The police investigation implicated Darshan, along with his friend and fellow actor Pavithra Gowda, and 15 others, in the crime. The investigation revealed that Renukaswamy had sent derogatory messages to Pavithra Gowda, leading to the tragic incident. The post-mortem report confirmed that Renukaswamy died due to shock and haemorrhage from multiple blunt-force injuries.
The case gained further notoriety when a photo of Darshan, appearing relaxed and enjoying a cigarette and coffee, was leaked from the Bengaluru's Parappana Agrahara prison. This sparked allegations of VIP treatment and prompted authorities to transfer him to Ballari Prison on August 29th. Darshan's legal team, citing his severe back pain, recently filed a bail plea, arguing that the actor's condition necessitates surgical intervention. The court has yet to respond to this request.
