The highly anticipated Vande Bharat Express, a semi-high-speed train connecting Kolhapur and Pune, has successfully completed its trial run. The saffron-colored train embarked on its maiden journey from Pune at 5:00 am on Saturday, arriving in Kolhapur at 10:10 am. Following a brief stopover, the train left Kolhapur at 10:25 am and reached Pune by 4:30 pm, demonstrating its operational efficiency. This new service is expected to significantly reduce travel time between the two cities, shaving off nearly two hours compared to the existing Mahalaxmi and Koyna Express trains.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to formally inaugurate the Kolhapur-Pune Vande Bharat Express online at 4:00 pm on Monday, September 16th. The inaugural event at Kolhapur railway station will also be graced by Union Minister of State for Railways V Somanna, along with MPs Dhananjay Mahadik, Shahu Chhatrapati, and Dhairyasheel Mane. The excitement surrounding the new train is palpable, with passengers at Kolhapur railway station snapping photos of the sleek, modern train during the trial run.
The eight-coach Vande Bharat Express offers two classes of travel: AC chair car and AC executive chair car. Passengers can choose from the comfortable AC chair car at a price of Rs 1,160, while the more luxurious AC executive chair car is priced at Rs 2,000. The train is scheduled to operate three days a week between Pune and Kolhapur, leaving Kolhapur at 8:15 am and reaching Pune at 1:30 pm. It will then depart Pune at 2:15 pm and arrive in Hubballi at 10:45 pm, where it will remain overnight. On Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, the train will depart Hubballi at 5:00 am and reach Pune at 1:30 pm. It will then depart Pune at 2:15 pm and arrive back in Kolhapur at 7:40 pm, staying at Kolhapur railway station overnight. The train will not operate on Tuesdays due to maintenance.
