The Andhra Pradesh government has launched a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe allegations of adulteration in the famous Tirupati Laddu, a sweet offering at the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple. The SIT, headed by Guntur IG Sarvasreshta Triparthy, began its investigation on Saturday, holding discussions with TTD procurement department staff and the Tirupati East police station, where a complaint was registered against Tamil Nadu-based AR Dairy.
The SIT Chief also met with TTD Executive Officer J Syamala Rao. The team's investigation extends beyond the alleged ghee adulteration incident, encompassing other activities within the Tirumala temple. The SIT comprises several high-ranking officials, including Visakha Range DIG Gopinath Jetti and Kadapa SP S Harshavardhan. Gopinath Jetti brings valuable experience to the team, having served as TTD chief vigilance officer in the past.
The SIT is expected to remain in Tirumala for the next three to four days, conducting a thorough investigation. The probe has garnered significant attention amid accusations and counteraccusations between the ruling NDA dispensation and the opposition YSRCP. The SIT's findings will likely have a significant impact on the reputation of the Tirumala temple and the TTD, which manages the temple.
The allegations of adulteration in Tirupati Laddu have sparked public outrage and raised concerns about the quality control measures in place at the temple. The SIT's investigation will hopefully shed light on the extent of the alleged adulteration and determine any wrongdoing by those involved. The outcome of the probe will be closely watched by both devotees and the public at large.
