The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced significant updates to the second round of NEET UG Counselling 2024, adding 614 new seats and 6,947 virtual vacancies for aspiring medical students. The newly added seats are distributed across medical colleges in Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Telangana, with a notable focus on providing opportunities for female candidates in Telangana, where half of the new seats have been reserved exclusively for them. This expansion reflects the government's commitment to increasing access to medical education and addressing gender disparities in the field.

The MCC's official website (mcc.nic.in) provides a detailed list of the newly added seats. Additionally, the committee has released a comprehensive list of virtual vacancies for round 2 admissions in MBBS/BDS/B.Sc. Nursing programs. These virtual seats are available in medical colleges across various states and union territories, including Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Delhi (NCT), Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Puducherry, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal.

Furthermore, the MCC has received notification from the University Grants Commission (UGC) regarding the granting of Deemed to be University status to four new institutions. This recognition significantly impacts the NEET UG Counselling 2024 seat matrix, as the seats offered by these newly designated universities will be included in the round 2 admissions process. The MCC's decision to incorporate these seats aligns with the Supreme Court of India's directive in W.P (c) No. 267/2017, ensuring transparency and fairness in the allocation of medical seats. This update underscores the dynamic nature of the medical education landscape and the ongoing efforts to expand opportunities for aspiring medical professionals across the country.
