Musheer Khan Injured in Accident, Out for Three Months
  • Musheer Khan, brother of Sarfaraz Khan, injured in road accident.
  • He is expected to be out of action for three months.
  • Khan will miss the upcoming Irani Cup and initial Ranji games.

Musheer Khan, a promising young all-rounder and brother of India batter Sarfaraz Khan, has suffered a setback in his burgeoning cricketing career. He was involved in a road accident on the outskirts of Lucknow, resulting in neck injuries that will keep him sidelined for at least three months. The incident occurred as Khan was traveling from his hometown of Azamgarh to Lucknow for the upcoming Irani Cup, which is scheduled to begin on October 1st.

The accident took place on the Purvanchal Expressway when Khan's car hit a divider and overturned. While he sustained neck injuries, his father, Naushad Khan, who was accompanying him, escaped with minor scratches. Khan was immediately rushed to Medanta Hospital in Lucknow, where he was treated for his injuries. Medical Superintendent Dr. Bhola Singh confirmed that Khan is currently stable and out of danger.

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) issued a statement confirming Khan's condition and providing details about his treatment. They mentioned that he has sustained a fracture in his neck region and is under close observation. The BCCI and MCA medical teams are closely monitoring his progress to ensure he receives the best possible care. Once deemed fit for travel, Khan will be flown to Mumbai for further evaluation and treatment. The timeline for his recovery will be determined based on these assessments.

The injury comes as a major blow to Khan's career, as he was in excellent form heading into the new season. He has already scored three centuries and a half-century in nine First-Class matches, including a double hundred in last season's Ranji Trophy quarter-final, a half-century in the semi-final, and a match-winning century in the final against Vidarbha. He had also begun the 2024-25 domestic season with a century in the Duleep Trophy for India B against India A in Bengaluru.

The accident will also have a significant impact on Mumbai's upcoming cricket season. The reigning Ranji Trophy champions are scheduled to take on Rest of India in the Irani Cup match at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium from October 1-5. Following the Irani Cup, Mumbai will begin their Ranji campaign on October 11 against Baroda. Khan's absence will undoubtedly be a setback for Mumbai, as he was a key player in their recent success.

As Khan focuses on his recovery, the cricketing community wishes him a speedy return to the field. The three-month absence will undoubtedly be a challenging period for him, but his talent and determination have been evident in his previous performances. There is no doubt that he will work diligently to regain his fitness and return to the game stronger than before.
