Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his congratulations and best wishes to Singapore's new Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, highlighting the nation's continued progress under the leadership of the '4G' generation. During their meeting, Modi remarked, “This is our first meeting since you assumed the office as prime minister. My heartiest congratulations and best wishes to you. I am confident that under the leadership of 4G, Singapore will achieve progress even more rapidly.”

Wong, a 51-year-old economist-turned-politician, was sworn in as Singapore's new prime minister in May. He succeeded Lee Hsien Loong, who had served for two decades as prime minister. Both Wong and Lee belong to the People's Action Party (PAP), which has been at the helm of Singapore's economic development for over five decades. As the leader of the fourth generation PAP politicians, Wong now carries the mantle of both prime minister and finance minister.

Modi's praise for Singapore's '4G' leadership underscores the importance of generational transitions in government and the continued commitment to economic progress. It also signifies India's strong ties with Singapore, a key partner in the region. Wong's leadership is anticipated to steer Singapore towards achieving further economic and social advancements, building upon the nation's established foundation of stability and prosperity.
