In a fiery speech delivered on his 74th birthday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress party, accusing them of adopting the same 'divide and rule' tactics used by the British to weaken India. The Prime Minister was addressing a large gathering in Bhubaneswar for the launch of the Odisha state government's 'Subhadra Yojana', a flagship initiative aimed at empowering women. Modi specifically targeted the Congress ecosystem for their opposition to Ganesh Puja, a significant religious festival in India, claiming that their intolerance towards the festival was a clear indication of their anti-national stance.

Modi went on to explain the historical significance of Ganesh Puja in India's fight for independence, emphasizing that it was used by freedom fighters like Lokmanya Tilak to unite the nation against British rule. He argued that by opposing Ganesh Puja, the Congress and its allies were echoing the same divisive strategies employed by the British to exploit religious and caste differences within India. This argument was further strengthened by referencing the Karnataka government's recent decision to place a Ganesh idol behind bars, highlighting the Congress's alleged intolerance towards the festival.

Beyond the political attacks, Modi used the occasion to showcase the BJP government's achievements during its first 100 days in office. He emphasized the importance of the 'Subhadra Yojana', which provides financial assistance to women, as a key step towards achieving true inclusive growth. The prime minister also handed over keys to beneficiaries of the PMAY housing scheme, highlighting the government's commitment to providing affordable housing for all. Through his visit to Odisha and the various initiatives launched, Modi reiterated his government's commitment to the state's development and its focus on empowering marginalized communities.
