Maruti Swift vs Hyundai Grand i10 CNG: Comparison
  • Swift CNG has higher torque.
  • Grand i10 Nios has usable boot.
  • Swift CNG has more features.

The Maruti Swift and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios are popular hatchbacks in India, and both offer CNG powertrains as an option. This article compares the two models in terms of price, features, safety, and powertrains to help you choose the right one for your needs.

The Maruti Swift CNG starts at Rs 8.20 lakh, while the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios CNG starts at Rs 7.75 lakh (both ex-showroom Delhi). There is a significant price difference between the top-spec variants, with the Swift CNG costing nearly a lakh rupees more than the Grand i10 Nios CNG. The Swift CNG is available with all variants except the base model and the top-spec Zxi+, while the Grand i10 Nios CNG only offers this powertrain with two mid-spec variants.

Both the Swift CNG and Grand i10 Nios CNG are powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine with CNG. The Swift CNG produces 69 PS of power and 102 Nm of torque, while the Grand i10 Nios CNG produces 69 PS of power and 95 Nm of torque. Both models are equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission, and there is no AMT option available with this powertrain. The Swift CNG offers a claimed fuel efficiency of 32.84 km/kg.

Comparing the top-spec variants, the Swift Zxi CNG offers features like auto-LED projector headlamps, LED DRLs, LED tail lamps, 15-inch alloy wheels, an all-black cabin theme, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control with rear vents, push-button start/stop, a wireless phone charger, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, a height-adjustable driver seat, and a 6-airbag safety system. The Grand i10 Nios Sportz CNG, on the other hand, comes with auto-projector headlamps, LED DRLs, LED tail lamps, 15-inch steel wheels with stylised covers, a dual-tone cabin theme, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, manual climate control with rear vents, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, a height-adjustable driver seat, and a 6-airbag safety system with a reversing camera and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

In terms of features, the Swift CNG is slightly ahead with its premium lighting, alloy wheels, and added convenience features like a wireless phone charger and automatic climate control. However, the Grand i10 Nios CNG offers a more comprehensive safety net with its reversing camera and TPMS. While the Swift CNG has a smaller infotainment screen, it offers wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which is a convenience the Grand i10 Nios CNG lacks. Ultimately, the choice between the two depends on your priorities. If you value features and a premium look, the Swift CNG might be the better option. If you prioritize practicality and budget, the Grand i10 Nios CNG with its usable boot space and comprehensive safety features could be a good choice.
