Lookout Notice Issued For Actor Siddique in Rape Case
  • Malayalam actor Siddique is facing a rape allegation.
  • He was denied anticipatory bail by the High Court.
  • A lookout notice has been issued against him.

The Malayalam film industry is currently facing a wave of allegations of sexual misconduct, with several women coming forward with accusations against prominent figures. One of the most high-profile cases involves actor Siddique, who has been accused of rape by a young actor. The allegations surfaced following the release of the Justice Hema committee report, which investigated sexual harassment in the Malayalam film industry.

The complainant, a young actor, revealed the allegations through the media last month, leading to Siddique's resignation as general secretary of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA). Subsequently, she filed a formal complaint with Thiruvananthapuram city police, resulting in an FIR being registered against Siddique under sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code. The alleged incident occurred in 2016 at a hotel in the city.

Siddique's anticipatory bail plea was rejected by the High Court, prompting the Kerala Police to issue a lookout notice for him. This means that authorities will be alerted if Siddique attempts to leave the country. The police have collected evidence from hotel records that appears to corroborate the woman's allegations. However, Siddique has vehemently denied the accusations, calling them a "criminal conspiracy to tarnish the reputation of the entire Malayalam film industry."

The case against Siddique highlights the ongoing struggle for justice and accountability in the Malayalam film industry. While a few prominent individuals have received anticipatory bail, the legal proceedings against Siddique and the attention garnered by his case demonstrate a growing awareness of sexual harassment and its impact on women in the industry. It remains to be seen how the courts will handle the case and what consequences Siddique will face if found guilty.
