Kolkata Doctor's Death: Allegations of Cover-up & Silencing
  • Doctor's death suspicious, claims forum advisor
  • Probe riddled with inconsistencies, says doctor
  • Allegations of cover-up, shielding perpetrator

The death of a young doctor in Kolkata, allegedly murdered after being raped, has sparked outrage and raised serious questions about the handling of the investigation. Dr. Koushik Lahiri, advisor for the West Bengal Doctors' Forum, has alleged that the deceased doctor, a 31-year-old postgraduate trainee, “knew too much and was silenced.” He further points to numerous inconsistencies and questionable actions in the investigation that suggest a potential cover-up.

Lahiri highlights several disturbing details surrounding the incident. He points out the delay in reporting the incident to the police, the misinformation given to the victim's father, and the confusion surrounding the classification of the case as an unnatural death (UD). He also raises concerns about the timing of the postmortem and the cremation, as well as the questionable circumstances surrounding the filing of the FIR.

Lahiri further alleges a conspiracy to shield the perpetrator(s) of the crime. He criticizes the resignation of Dr. Sandip Ghosh, the ex-principal of the college, and the actions taken by the hospital administration, suggesting they are not cooperating with the investigation and may be actively protecting someone involved in the crime.

The case has garnered widespread attention and calls for a thorough and transparent investigation. The allegations of a cover-up and the silencing of the victim have added to the public's outrage. The authorities are now facing immense pressure to address the concerns raised and ensure justice for the deceased doctor and her family.
