Kejriwal Bail: AAP Asserts Work Unimpacted
  • Kejriwal granted bail in excise case
  • AAP claims work will continue as usual
  • BJP accused of spreading lies about impact

The recent arrest and subsequent bail of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the excise policy 'scam' has sparked a political storm in the nation's capital. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), led by Kejriwal, has vehemently asserted that his work as chief minister will continue unaffected by the legal proceedings. This assertion comes despite specific bail conditions imposed by the Supreme Court, which bar Kejriwal from visiting his office or the Delhi Secretariat and restrict him from signing official files unless absolutely necessary to obtain the lieutenant governor's sanction.

The AAP, in a press conference, accused the BJP of spreading lies about the impact of the bail conditions on Kejriwal's ability to function as chief minister. Sanjay Singh, an AAP Rajya Sabha MP, fiercely criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah, calling the case against Kejriwal a 'fake' one and demanding Shah's resignation for sending Kejriwal to jail. Singh asserted that Kejriwal's role as chief minister is largely ceremonial, with ministers in charge of their respective departments handling the signing of most files. Kejriwal's signature is only required for files that need to be sent to the lieutenant governor for approval, a process that the Supreme Court has not barred him from doing.

The AAP maintains that Kejriwal's ability to sign files that require the lieutenant governor's approval ensures the smooth functioning of the Delhi government. Singh emphasized that the Supreme Court's order does not hinder the government's operations and the work of the people will continue as planned. He touted the achievements of the Kejriwal-led government in sectors such as health, education, water, and power, assuring the public that these initiatives will continue to be implemented effectively.

The BJP, however, has called for Kejriwal's resignation, arguing that his bail conditions render him incapable of fulfilling his duties as chief minister. This call for resignation underscores the political maneuvering and strategy at play in the wake of Kejriwal's arrest and bail. The ongoing tussle between the AAP and the BJP, fueled by the excise policy case, is expected to further escalate, casting a shadow over the political landscape of Delhi and potentially impacting the upcoming assembly polls.
