The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) continues its crackdown on illegal structures in the city, emphasizing its commitment to safeguarding public spaces and resources. Recent demolition actions have targeted unauthorized constructions in various locations, highlighting the agency's proactive approach towards restoring the integrity of government land and water bodies.
On Monday, HYDRAA officials demolished illegal structures belonging to a sports academy at Kavuri Hills Park in Madhapur, a prominent information technology hub. The action followed a complaint filed by the Kavuri Hills Association, which alleged that the academy had encroached upon park land. While the sports academy management claimed to have a 25-year lease agreement with the association, HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath asserted that the demolition was carried out based on a court order, implying that the lease agreement might not be legally valid.
This demolition drive marked the second consecutive day of action against unlawful constructions. On Sunday, HYDRAA removed 16 sheds erected for commercial purposes within the Full Tank Level (FTL) and buffer zone of Kukatpally Lake/Nalla Cheruvu. This action underscores the agency's determination to prevent encroachment and protect the ecological balance of water bodies in the city. The officials emphasized that only commercial structures were demolished, while those used for residential purposes remained untouched.
Beyond the Madhapur and Kukatpally sites, HYDRAA has also undertaken demolition operations in Kistareddypet and Patelguda of Ameenpur Mandal in Sangareddy district. In Kistareddypet, three RCC structures used for commercial operations were demolished, reclaiming one acre of government land. Similarly, at Patelguda, 25 RCC structures were removed to reclaim three acres of encroached government land. These actions highlight HYDRAA's commitment to restoring the integrity of public land, not only within the city limits but also in surrounding areas.
These demolition drives are not merely acts of enforcement but are part of a broader strategy to protect vital resources and ensure their sustainable use. The participation of officials from the Revenue Department, Irrigation Department, and Town Planning Department alongside the HYDRAA team signifies a collaborative approach towards addressing the issue of illegal constructions.
