The South Central Railway has announced the diversion of two trains from the Madurai Railway Division due to flooding and waterlogging between Vijayawada and Kazipet railway stations. This disruption in railway services has led to the alteration of routes for Train No. 12687 Madurai–Chandigarh Superfast Express and Train No. 22613 Rameswaram (Mandapam) – Ayodhya Superfast Express. The impact of these diversions will result in these trains skipping several key stops along their original routes.

Train No. 12687, which departs from Madurai at 11.35 p.m. on September 1st (Sunday), will now follow a revised route that includes Renigunta, Guntakkal, Secunderabad, Kazipet, and will bypass stops at Arakkonam, Perambur, Nayudupetta, Vijayawada, and Warangal. This change in its journey will affect passengers who were anticipating stops at these stations.

Similarly, Train No. 22613, which leaves Mandapam at 12.30 a.m. on September 2nd (Monday), will also be re-routed via Renigunta, Gooty, Kacheguda, and Kazipet, skipping stops at Chennai Egmore, Gudur, Vijayawada, and Warangal. These diversions aim to ensure the safety of passengers and the smooth operation of trains despite the challenging weather conditions. The South Central Railway has taken this decision to minimize disruption and ensure the well-being of travelers amidst the flooding situation.
