A significant fire incident occurred at the Tata Electronics manufacturing unit in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, on Saturday, causing widespread concern and prompting immediate emergency response. The fire, which reportedly began in the cellphone manufacturing section of the facility, led to a swift evacuation of employees, ensuring their safety as thick smoke engulfed the area.

According to news agency IANS, substantial property damage has been reported as a result of the fire. Fire brigades were immediately dispatched to the site and are currently working tirelessly to control the blaze and prevent further damage. Local media reports suggest the fire originated in the mobile phone accessories painting unit of the company, located in Uddanapalli, near Nagamangalam, around 5:30 am.

The incident sparked panic among workers and local residents as thick smoke billowed from the facility. Fire engines arrived promptly to assist in the evacuation of employees, and fortunately, no injuries have been reported so far. At the time of the fire, approximately 1,500 workers were on duty for the first shift, making the situation particularly challenging.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and authorities are working to determine the exact source of the blaze. A Tata Electronics Private Limited (TEPL) spokesperson issued a statement to Moneycontrol, confirming the fire at their Hosur plant and assuring the public that emergency protocols were followed to ensure the safety of all employees.

The spokesperson also emphasized that the company is conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the fire and will take appropriate measures to protect its employees and stakeholders. Reports indicate that three employees, experiencing respiratory issues due to the smoke, were transported to a private hospital for medical attention. Their condition is reported to be stable.

More than 100 police personnel were deployed to manage the situation and ensure the safe evacuation of all employees from the premises. The incident underscores the importance of robust safety measures and fire prevention protocols in industrial settings, particularly those involving large numbers of employees. As investigations continue, further updates and information regarding the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are expected.
